During the marathon a 100 meter track was marked in the B-phase, the so-called ‘Sandmann Sprint’. The time was recorded and the fastest pair and four-in-hand drivers received a special prize offered by Sandmann Transporte. Switzerland’s four-in-hand driver Martin Wagner was the fastest of all the drivers on this track in 6.57 seconds. Runner-up was Belgium’s Tristan Verheijen (pairs), who needed 8.87 seconden for the 100 meters. Only 0.03 seconds slower was pair driver Wim Heylen (NED) to finish third.
